Did you know that single women are a powerhouse in the housing market? According to recent data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), single women have consistently made up roughly 17-20% of all homebuyers for the past few years.
Furthermore, in 2023, single women owned more homes than single men in 31 of the country’s major metropolitan areas.
Why the rise? Women are increasingly prioritizing the financial stability and security that comes with homeownership. They are, as one expert noted, “removing the unknowns” from their living situation—no more worrying about rent hikes or landlords selling their rental unit.

While the first woman to join the National Association of Realtors was in 1910, the industry has undergone a massive transformation since then. Today, women account for roughly 62% to 64% of all Realtors.
